SPRING · THE FIRST BOOK
The Apprenticeship is the origin story of the Gray Man, Golden Heart series, the season where identity, belief, and survival strategies begin to form.
Spanning childhood through early adulthood, the story traces formative years shaped by dyslexia, ADHD, shame, rejection, and the instinct to perform in order to belong. Early coping patterns, weed, alcohol, and compulsive spending, emerge not as rebellion, but as attempts to survive.
Along the way, unexpected mentors appear: a stepfather who teaches critical thinking, a mill boss who reframes faith as accountability rather than dogma, and books that quietly begin to reshape worldview.
The story closes with a defining wilderness moment, a solitary mountain prayer, where the seed of redemption is planted long before its cost is understood.
